Portsmouth NH, a photo shoot, and a new look; here we go

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

This past weekend we ventured North of Boston to what I think may be one of my new favorite places, Portsmouth NH. A coastal town with a very hip shopping and restaurant scene, we were inundated with amazing backdrops and a diversity of colors, textures, and very accommodating weather. The particular choice of location for this shoot came at the suggestion of our photographer, and we’re glad we listened.

One of the challenges for new brands, especially in the fashion industry, is bringing authenticity and consistency to your brand while seeking some degree of originality. While choosing a semi-urban setting in a trendy town is far from a new idea, we felt Portsmouth allowed us to most accurately represent Faith & Fortune and be ourselves. Our last shoot in fall of ’09 was awesome and much larger in scope with so many more moving parts. Everyone involved was incredibly talented and creative. Having said that, this most recent shoot will present some images and feelings that are more “us”. We’re not overly serious. We’re not pretending to be something we’re not.

We’re very proud of our first shoot…no regrets. Having said that, we had a blast at the last shoot and are VERY excited for our web “refreshing”.

The new look will coincide with some new fall pieces that we hope you’ll love and will get you excited as we move ahead. I know we can’t wait.

Keep doing good!

the Boyfriend Jean, yes or no?

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Well, it turns out I was wrong. I thought Katie Holmes had officially gone off the Tom Cruise deep end when she ventured out in her twisted-hubbies denim. But instead of global nausea at the sight of her sloppiness, all she did was inspire an international trend.

Somehow I don’t think my gal will be nabbing my jeans anytime soon (I’m 6’3″ to her 5’2″), but tell me;
What do you think?

Putting our words into action; join us!

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Now’s your chance to make a big difference, with just a little time!

Saturday, October 16th from 9am-12pm (that’s only 3 hours!) we’re going to head to the Harvest Food Pantry in Cambridge, MA. Basically we’ll help hand out food, man (or woman) the tables, and help watch some of the kids of the families that come to “shop” there.

I don’t know about you, but I often talk about how important it is to help others, many times forgetting the actual “helping” part of it.

We’d love to meet some of you, help side by side with you, and maybe grab a bite to eat after if you’re up for it (I like to think we’re somewhat interesting).

Shoot us an email at hello@faithfortune.com to be part of this or any other initiatives.

Hope to see you there!

Now Playing; what we’re listening to

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

If you are anything like me, whether in your car, on the train, or at the gym, there is a soundtrack to your life. Seated here at my computer is far from any different. The fact of the matter is music fuels our creative abilities and just seems to “move” you. Below is a little sampling about what’s been on heavy rotation on my ipod as of late as I work here at F&F. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions…by all means, send along!

Sir Lucious Left Foot The Son of Chico Dusty, Big Boi.
Track to check out: Shine Blockas

They're baaaaack (well, Big Boi is anyway)

Infinite Arms, Band of Horses
Track to Check out: Compliments

How I Got Over, The Roots
Track to check out: I walk alone + The Fire

Anthology: Through the Years, Tom Petty
Track to check out: Hometown Blues

Brothers, The Black Keys
Track to check out: Sinister Kid

This is of course but a few of the choices currently very popular with me right now (along with regular summer faves Bob Marley, Allman Brothers, and more) which I would highly recommend. Tell me what you think!
Jason
